We’re actively strengthening our diverse and inclusive culture all the time, in a way that’s led by and centred around our people. We want to attract, recruit and develop people who reflect the diverse nature of the communities we work in. And we make sure our people feel supported, respected and confident in their ability to make a valuable contribution.

Listen

 We listen to and amplify diverse voices and perspectives. We create spaces that promote inclusive workplace practices, allowing our people to share lived experiences. We also make sure everyone gets heard through our employee networks, people surveys and employee voice champions. By listening, we build connections and learn how to make meaningful changes in the way we behave.

Educate

We educate and empower our people to better understand diversity and inclusion. We have an annual calendar of learning opportunities and resources, where our people can learn about relevant issues and continually challenge the way they think.

Act

Finally, we act on what we’re continually learning. We want our ways of working, benefits and opportunities to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of our people. We’ve partnered with a number of organisations to help us promote diversity in the workplace and achieve our inclusivity goals.

Our employee networks

We have active employee networks and groups that represent our many different communities. Each one offers a sense of belonging and community, inspiring and supporting diverse talent and nurturing our inclusive culture.

Our groups and networks are forums for discussion, where people can access resources and learn more about diverse experiences from those who are living them. Our networks are open to everyone to join.

Social mobility

Creating a more equitable society is really important to us. We’re always looking for ways to make positive contributions to our local communities. Our people can make an impact through our volunteering scheme and our diversity and inclusion partnership connections. 

Allyship

Everyday inclusion is central to our values. Our people should always feel safe to be themselves, our inclusion work is underpinned by allyship. To us, this means doing the right thing by and for each other. We want to be available to listen, hear and seek to understand someone else’s perspective and provide support for others as often as they need it.
