Corporate Social Responsibility

We’re guided by the values that make us unique. These values shape our business decisions and how we interact with our clients, our people, our suppliers and the communities where we work.
Everyone is  involved in our corporate responsibility initiatives, and the dedicated national corporate responsibility team is led by our executive chairman, Kevin O’Connor. We also have representatives in each of our regional offices, who make sure the views and values of our diverse workforce are heard.

Our approach to corporate social responsibility and how we want to support society is made up of three pillars.
  • Environment
  • Charity
  • Community

Helping our planet

Small changes, big impact. Our national environmental policy and carbon emission targets can only be achieved through the support of our people.

We encourage everyone to think about their own environmental footprint, both at home and at work. To help, we provide guidance and training on an environmentally friendly approach to life.

Volunteering in our communities

We believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to succeed. This is why we aim to create strong, sustainable communities, where no one is left behind.

Every year, our people are given paid leave to volunteer and spend this time supporting national and local charities

Volunteering not only benefits our communities but also our people. By working together, our people learn new skills, build confidence, contribute to their local neighbourhoods and develop lasting relationships.

Some choose to volunteer for our charity partners –, such as EDGA, Anthony Nolan, Leadership through Sport and Business, while each year, some of our new starters volunteer part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

Many of our volunteers choose charities that are personally important to them, such as schools, foodbanks and hospices. Others go for causes that they’re passionate about, such as improving the environment through litter picks, river restoration projects and beach cleans.

The social responsibility of our business is important to us, and so we do lots of giving back outside our volunteering scheme too. A number of our people use their skills and experience as trustees for a wide range of charitable organisations, while our national diversity and inclusion initiatives provide opportunities for mentoring and contributing to school outreach programmes.

Contributing to charity partners

We work closely with our national charity partners to raise funds and contribute to their efforts.

Match-funding
We offer match-funding for charity fundraising by our people through the RSM UK Foundation. Fundraising can be hard work, and we’re happy to provide support and encouragement.

Payroll giving
Payroll giving is a simple, tax- effective way for our people to give to charity directly from their pay. Many of our people choose to support causes close to their hearts in this way.

One-off initiatives
We fund one-off campaigns for emergency and disaster relief. That's why we've established a working relationship with UNICEF UK to support their humanitarian appeals.
