Preparing in advance is the best way to feel ready when it comes to the interview process. Be sure to follow the steps below:
- Dress smartly as you would for any interview. Remember that if the interview is taking place virtually, you’ll be visible while on the call.
- Prepare some questions about the role or the business area that interests you, as this will be your opportunity to expand the conversation and learn more. Your questions could be about our clients or corporate responsibility, for example.
- If your interview is online, check that your internet connection, sound, camera and video are all working. It’s important to use a laptop or desktop computer during a virtual assessment, as tablets or iPads will limit your ability to fully participate.
- Be yourself. Remember, we think personality and passion are just as important as good exam results.
- Make sure you take the time to review the job description for the role you applied for. Ask yourself what makes you a good fit for this role and what previous experience you could call on to support your answers.
- Expect a mix of skills-based questions and broader questions designed to help us to get to know you. We're keen to hear examples of how you might apply commercial acumen and your understanding of current affairs that affect business to your role.
- Take time to learn about RSM, our values and the different service lines, as this will mean you can show genuine interest during interviews.
If your home setup isn’t suitable for a virtual interview or you don’t have the necessary tech, don’t worry – we’re here to help. Let us know in advance, and we’ll arrange a call to explore support options. Our telephone number will be on the email you receive from us.
