I transferred from the audit department as a qualified accountant four years ago to the restructuring team.

Restructuring can be fast-paced but it’s always engaging. The advice we give often has a lasting impact for our clients are often very grateful for the assistance we offer.

Each client has its own unique issues so no two days are the same. Since transferring across I have immensely improved my problem-solving skills and social skills by getting the chance to work with a wide variety of clients and professional advisors.

The social side of the restructuring team is also fantastic. There are a wide range of networking events that you can attend throughout the year.
them develop and having that team interaction. We’ve also had some very enjoyable socials along the way!

I came back to the UK after spending five years working in bankruptcy in Australia and applied for a corporate insolvency position at RSM. It wasn’t quite the right fit. Fortunately, the team that received my application recognised my skillset and referred me to the right team, leading to me joining as an assistant manager in bankruptcy.

I was able to quickly get involved with matters that were completely new to me. This has helped me progress in my career, pushing me to develop and drive my career forwards. I have enjoyed every moment.

At RSM, I have felt empowered to take control of my own career.

I’ve worked in due diligence here for almost three years. I have developed invaluable analytic skills in a service line that requires close attention to detail. Throughout, my supportive team have encouraged me. I’ve also worked closely with senior people and had access to resources from across the RSM Global network.

Since joining RSM, I’ve seen the best of mid-market deals and larger sell-side mandates that we’ve won over Big 4 competition. I have acted on behalf of corporates and private equity firms looking to make acquisitions, which has helped me develop both professionally and personally.

I joined RSM as an associate in 2019 from a boutique investment bank. Since then, I’ve progressed to manager up to associate director. Coming from a small business, I’ve really enjoyed being part of a well-established company, where new ideas are welcomed and entrepreneurial thinking is encouraged.

From day one, I’ve been very impressed with the people-centric approach here. We’re encouraged to pursue our passions and interests beyond our day-to-day roles. That’s why I joined the China desk – I can stay connected to a business world I was once part of (and attempt to keep up my Mandarin skills).

In the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to reshape our deal origination service and scale the team. I’ve changed the strategy and onboarded four bright new people. I’m thankful to RSM for the opportunities and the constant support and I’m excited about the future.”

Meet our transaction leadership team

I’ve worked for RSM and its legacy firms since 2003. I started as an insolvency administrator and worked my way up to director and appointment taker. Throughout my career, I’ve championed learning and development among colleagues, guiding them through exams and mentoring them to get those promotions.

Currently, my role is very broad. I spend lots of time chatting to clients and making key decisions with them. It’s great, as I can empower my team by sharing the knowledge and experience, I’m continuing to gain.

Meet our Leadership Team

Having started at RSM in 2002 as a graduate in Audit I was immediately impressed with the people and the supportive nature of the business. I quickly discovered I had a passion for M&A and helping our mid market clients achieve their personal objectives.

Having taken advantage of the development opportunities at RSM (and taking a calculated risk now and again) I became a partner in 2015 and in 2021 Head of M&A and PE at RSM.

Whilst the business has continue to develop and grow, what’s pleasing is that we are still focussed on the mid market and our people and culture remains supportive. RSM takes a ‘grow our own’ approach, and with the support from mentors and the technical training available at every level, there are plenty of opportunities to grow and succeed with the firm.

Meet our transaction leadership team

I’ve been with RSM for over 20 years and have taken on various roles across the creditor solutions team. I’ve always felt like there’s a supportive working environment here. The focus on personal and professional development has helped me achieve my highest potential.

Personally, I’ve been given the opportunity to work within various areas of the creditor solutions business, which has hugely supported my career progression.
